Acanthopanax senticosus saponins are triterpenoid saponin active ingredients extracted from Eleutherococcus senticosus. Together with eleutherosides (phenolic glycosides), they are collectively known as total acanthopanax glycosides. The main components include oleanane-type triterpenoid saponins, as well as signature ingredients Eleutheroside B (Syringin) and Eleutheroside E.
1. Basic Information
Source: Roots, rhizomes and leaves of Eleutherococcus senticosus (Araliaceae family). It is mainly distributed in Northeast China and the Russian Far East.
Chemical Structure: Aglycones are primarily oleanane and ursane type triterpenes, linked with sugar moieties such as D-glucose, D-galactose and L-rhamnose. Thirteen kinds of triterpenoid saponins are found in leaves, while phenolic glycosides dominate in roots.
Properties: The extract is off-white to pale yellow powder, soluble in hot water and dilute ethanol.
Quality Standard: Controlled by the content of Eleutheroside B + Eleutheroside E (≥0.08%) and total saponins (≥80%).
