2024-China Health Products Ingredients Conference & International Sourcing Information Exchange in Xi'an

On 25-26 April 2024,'2024-China Health Products Ingredients Conference and International Sourcing Information Exchange' was held in Xi'an. The conference is hosted by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCMP), organised by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCMP) Plant Extracts Sub-Committee and Shaanxi Plant Extracts Industry Association, and co-organised by CCCMP Cosmetics Sub-Committee and Shaanxi Cosmetics Industry Association.

The conference focuses on China's natural health products raw materials industry represented by plant extracts, closely focuses on the industry's hot concerns and demands, analyses and researches the domestic and international situation, explains and interprets the policies and international rules, shares the industry's cutting-edge R&D and innovation achievements, and explores the market opportunities and the space for future development. Nearly 1,000 delegates listened to the meeting on site, and 150,000 people participated in the meeting online, seeking the way of high-quality and sustainable development of the pharmaceutical and health industry in the new period.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Pharmaceuticals and Health Products Meng Dongping, party secretary, said that in recent years the global nutrition and health market scale continues to grow, the industry is in full swing, the plant herbal products are highly sought after because of their natural green properties and special therapeutic effects in the prevention and treatment of diseases and strengthening of the body, and the market is highly active. China as a plant extract production and manufacturing country, but also the world's largest exporter of raw materials for natural health products, after many years of accumulation, the industry is developing and growing, local enterprises in international trade and division of labour cooperation in the status of the role of the more prominent. She called for, in the face of the current global economic changes mainly characterised by the restructuring of the industrial chain and supply chain, Chinese enterprises committed to international development should have firm confidence, clear direction, consolidate their internal strengths, and make precise efforts; objectively and soberly understand their own shortcomings, overcome homogeneous competition and weak innovation in basic research and development, product quality and quality stability needs to be improved, and strive to achieve breakthroughs through technological innovation and excellent quality; At the same time, we should pay attention to improving the international thinking and concepts, accurately understand the drug policy arrangements and market operating characteristics of each country, find a new track, a new positioning, and work together to promote China's plant extracts and health raw materials industry in the new period of high-quality new development.

Liu Shijie, Director of Light Textile and Pharmaceutical Division, Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, pointed out in his speech that China's trade structure has been further optimised, innovative kinetic energy has been gathering, the export performance of high value-added products is outstanding, and plant extract products have the first global share. He hoped that the Chamber of Commerce of Medical Insurance would strengthen the service and protection for the industry enterprises, and that the leading enterprises would play the role of industry demonstration and leadership, and the small and medium-sized enterprises could give full play to their strengths.

Sun Jinghu, deputy director of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, gave a detailed introduction of Xi'an phytoextracts industry in his speech, and put forward opinions on quality control of products, development of application end, overseas marketing and cross-border e-commerce network construction, saying that the Department of Commerce will do a good job in service and support more Shaanxi phytoextracts enterprises to explore the international market, and to develop and grow the provinces’ phytoextracts industry.
