As an important application form of the traditional Chinese medicinal herb astragalus, its extraction technologies have attracted much attention in recent years. Current mainstream methods include water extraction, ethanol extraction, and ultrasound/microwave-assisted extraction. The water extraction method uses water as a solvent to obtain water-soluble components such as polysaccharides through decoction and warm immersion, with simple operation. The ethanol extraction method utilizes different concentrations of ethanol to efficiently separate fat-soluble substances like astragaloside.

Chinese rhubarb Extract is derived from the dried roots and rhizomes of plants in the genus Rheum of the Polygonaceae family (such as Rheum officinale, Rheum tanguticum, etc.) through solvent extraction (such as ethanol, water extraction) and other processes. Rhubarb has a long history of medicinal use in China, first recorded in the "Shennong's Herbal Classic", and is traditionally used for purgation, relieving constipation, and clearing heat. For the production of Hawthorn Extract, first, mature fruits are selected, cleaned to remove impurities, dried and crushed into coarse powder to increase the contact area for extraction. Then, solvents such as ethanol and water are used to extract through soaking or heating reflux method, so that active ingredients such as flavonoids and organic acids are dissolved into the solvent to obtain the extract. After that, residues are removed by filtration and centrifugation, and then purification is carried out by chromatography, extraction and other methods to retain effective ingredients.
